Handicraft Badge Activity
The nature museum collection is an activity that fulfills the “Display a Collection” requirement for the Otter Handicraft Badge!
Our nature museum collection is a collection of cool things we find in nature. We often collect things so that we can look at them and show others just how cool the things we find outdoors are! Things inside your museum can include sticks, leaves, feathers, rocks, shells, seeds, and anything else you think is cool from nature.
Start Your Collection
To start your collection pick a place, or several places, outside that you can explore for natural treasures!
Once you find cool items you would like to collect, put them in a jar or save them in a safe place.
Remember to bring your collection to our next meeting to show us what you’ve found!
Things to keep in mind:
- Please be kind to both the wildlife and other people who share the outdoor space with you.
- Think about where you will display your collection in your room.
- Make sure you keep your area neat and clean!
Important: Make sure you aren’t bringing things inside that are still alive or are deceased and smell awful. Also remember that if you are in a state or national park and you find something really cool, you are not allowed to collect it. We must leave it for others to also enjoy.
