Mission San Juan Capistrano
We were invited by our friends over at AITSCM (American Indians in Texas at the Spanish Colonial Missions) to participate in their Summer Indian Market! The focus was on the flora and fauna of the area, so we decided to share some ethnobotanical information about a few important, but sometimes under appreciated, plants of our region. We also got to hang out with our friends from the north, the Austin 183rd Tonkawa Scout Group!
Above are some of the trees we see everyday, in shopping center parking lots, country land, and even in our own backyards.

The Market was held on the grounds of Mission San Juan Capistrano, where many Coahuiltecans called home in the late 1700s.
