As a new BPSA scout group, we didn’t know what to expect at our first BTC. What we did know was that we were going to camp in 30 degree weather with nine other brave scouts, at the tropical Palmetto State Park.
Over the course of 3 days we learned about the BPSA scouting program, their mission of inclusivity, outdoor skills, and most importantly team work! We started the weekend as chipmunks, swam up to become otters, became timberwolfs with a howl, moved on to pathfinders and finaly rovers. Along the way we made wonderful new friends, played games, sang songs, learned how to build a fire, tie knots, use knives, and how to work together.
So what should you expect when you attend a BTC? Expect to gain outdoor knowledge, expect to meet amazing selfless people, and be prepared for lots of learning and fun!
